Missy Dog

When we moved here 6 1/2 years ago we were presented with a 1 yr old puppy. A beautiful border collie. The kids named her Missy. She quickly became part of the family. She also became heavy, noisey, and hyper ( but we won't go there right now). During the summer drilling season Missy would jump into the back of the pick-up and head out with Alan & the boys to drill.

When we returned from our various trips she would greet us with barking, whining (where Have you been?), and licking everyone. We have had Missy longer than we have had Amy!!

Last Monday Alan was building fence in the field and Missy got under the pick-up and was ran over. She died about 20 minutes later. It was pretty sad for all of us. How do say good bye to a pet. She was more like a member of our family.

I will be soo0 happy when this year is over. I am tired of death. Tired of losing the people I love when they are much too young to die. Missing little Josiah today terribly. And my Mom, and my Uncle Ben, and Aunt Betha, and Josh, and, and, and. I will be happy to ring in 2009.

I know what you mean. But sometimes there is worse things than death. I know it is hard for up hear on earth but sometimes for the loved ones it is better for them.

I am sorry. I know that some days are harder than others. I remember when Gale's dog, Princess was killed. It was hard for her. She was a part of our lives.
Today I am feeling sad about my miscarriage. I hope this day of heartache passes quickly and new days bring new joys. I love you and I miss you.

Oh how sad. My kids were so upset when they lost their guinea pig and we hadn't even had it a year.

I have a dog that you can have. He LOVES children, they LOVE him, he's about the same age as your dear departed Missy, he's neutered, and he isn't very well trained!! Now isn't that EXACTLY what you want? Just come and get him. Also, he's part border collie, the shape of his head reminds me of Hank the Cowdog.

Now seriously, I know it hasn't been the best of years - probably my worst - but I am constantly reminded of one of your Uncle Ben's favorite sayings "GOD KNOWS BEST." Very simple and to the point.
And it's very difficult not to miss 40, or nearly 60, years of someone's companionship - but I think it's good to remember that we are not the first ones to walk that road, and we certainly won't be the last. And maybe we can help the next person! So we need to cheer up, and look forward to a better year next year.
Deal??

Losing a pet can really be hard. And dogs are so loyal and fun and close. There's a reason for that saying "Dog is a man's best friend." And it's real hard to lose best friends. Actually, because Missy was run over, it also reminded me of Mom losing Princess, since she was also run over. We had a border collie, too, Midnighte, who died 3 years ago, while Kali & I were in Co. It was painful. I cried for a long time. Sometimes even now, I ache over it! She was our best dog, though. I don't even think that if Honey or Samson died that I would miss them as much as her. She was Kali's dog, but I was VERY attached to her.

I agree that 2008 has been full of deaths and sad tidings. I hope that 2009 is better. But I've been trying to think on the blessings God's given us rather than the sorrows allowed. Our family got to go on two trips this year, although the first one was under sad circumstances. I'm glad that we got those trips. And I'm glad that we haven't lost as many people and as close as Job did. All that loss may be hard, but just imagine if all of your children were gone and you found yourself destitute. Blessings, blessings.

I'll try to remember to pray for you.

Well, I guess you can think of this death as a somewhat good thing this time. If she was about 7 1/2 she was getting really old, she probably would have gotten Arthritis soon, and would have had a LOT more pain for longer. But it is sad to for a beloved pet to die after 6 1/2 years of getting more and more attached to the pet though. I still miss my dog Midnighte that I only had for about 1 - 1 1/2, maybe 2 years when she died.

Yes I have to agree '08 has brought a lot of loss of important people. And I am sorry your dog died.

Oh I am so sorry for losing your dog. We lost our family dog the day after our son moved to OKC back in June. He was 14 and we had him since he was a pup. Miss him still, he was a part of our family. I'll bet your kids cried and cried. You take care!
